HOW TO GIVE COMMENT

You can provide your input in writing (mail, email, or fax), through testimony presented during a public comment period at any public meeting, or both.  The most effective comments, either written or verbal, will be concise recognizing that a 3-minute limit on testimony presented during Public Comment Periods is standard.  Emotion-based comments or testimony are less effective than those that are fact-based, organized, and well-cited.  Whenever possible, use direct citations from related reports, articles, other publications and/or previous testimony or public discussion.

The City of Bellingham encourages public participation at City Council Meetings and provides Tips for Talking with the Council.

The Port of Bellingham also encourages the public to participate in the planning process, and offers information about how to give Public Comment to the Port. For more information contact the Port at (360) 676-2500 and ask to speak with someone involved with Bellingham's waterfront redevelopment project.  You can also send your comments about the Waterfront project to info@portofbellingham.com or info@newwhatcom.com.
